Normanbya normanbyi
[ Palmae ]
[ Australia ]
Lovely plumose-leaved palm from north-east Australia where it is known as the Black palm on account of the density of its dark timber. Fast growing, it is suitable for sub-tropical and tropical planting and deserves wider attention. It has its own charm and would add character to any planting. Attractive, too, as a young plant, when the silver backs of its leaves can best be appreciated.
